Job Description

Overview:

JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the Forestry Technician will assist with planting tree seedlings and various field tasks related to the lands on Doyon land in the Manley Hot Springs area.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Planting seedlings across designated Doyon land under the guidance of the operations manager(s).
  • Hiking and navigating various and sometimes difficult terrain.
  • Seedling planting may include but is not limited to; digging holes, removing brush, packing seedlings, and transporting seedlings.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a Doyon Shareholder.
  • Strong communications.
  • Knowledge of Alaska’s various landscapes and effectively navigate through them.
  • Must be able to hike at least 5 miles per day.
  • Must be able to lift or carry up to 50 Ibs.

 

SKILLS INTERN WILL OBTAIN:

  • Intern will obtain essential skills in tree planting, landscape navigation, problem solving, and teamwork communication.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The majority of work is performed in an outdoor setting with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities and abilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is generally active, requiring hiking, bending and carrying items weighing less than fifty pounds.
