Job Captain - Retail Studio

Alameda, CA

Compensation: $87,000 - $103,000 + Mid-Year and End-Of Year Discretionary Bonus

We are seeking a highly organized, versatile person to join our team as a Job Captain in the Alameda office (hybrid) in the Retail studio. This role focuses on the timely and accurate production of project deliverables from design development through construction.

What You'll Do

• Partner with the Project Manager and help guide designers in producing and issuing accurate sets of construction documents as well as other required client deliverables
• Coordinate with landlords, MEP, and Structural consultant teams to ensure complete and timely project delivery
• Lead, mentor, and train junior Designers
• Research, review, and implement CBC & IBC codes
• Address plan check comments from local jurisdictions
• Issue construction documents for bid and permit
• Perform site surveys & punch walks
• Perform job site visits to review the progress of construction; prepare and issue field reports
• Participate in various aspects of construction administration; respond to RFIs, revise drawings based on RFIs, bulletins and addendums, and review submittals
• Travel may be required

Minimum Qualifications

• Degree in Architecture or relevant field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the industry
• Proficient in Revit
• Knowledge of building codes and ability to implement into construction drawings
• Bluebeam, SketchUp, Photoshop experience
• Actively pursuing licensure
• Strong organizational and communication skills

Experience with:

• Retail or retail-rollout projects
• Balancing multiple projects in various phases
• Communicating changes in project scope or schedule
• Supporting and passing along knowledge to team members
• Delegating tasks and providing direction to junior staff and designers
• Implementing efficiencies and ways to improve production methods
• Working for a multi-office/multi-time zone company
