Job Description

The Position

A healthier future. It's what drives us to innovate. To continuously advance science and ensure everyone has access to the healthcare they need today and for generations to come. Creating a world where we all have more time with the people we love. That's what makes us Genentech.

As the Manager of Internal Communications for Content & Channels within Genentech Research and Early Development (gRED), you will be the go-to partner for creating engaging content and managing the channels that connect employees across the organization. You will serve as a central resource that functional communications leads and leadership teams partner with for high-quality content creation and delivery support - from written communications and town halls to intranet features and digital and visual storytelling.

This role is ideal for a strong communicator who thrives at the intersection of writing, editing, and channel management, and who enjoys collaborating with diverse teams to bring complex science and strategy to life. By shaping the way gRED communicates through its channels, you will help build alignment, strengthen culture, and amplify gRED's bold scientific vision.

This position reports to the Senior Director, Head of Internal Communications for gRED.

The Opportunity

• Act as the primary content creator and channel manager for gRED-wide internal communications.

• Partner with gRED functional communications leads to create content for newsletters, town halls, intranet articles, videos, and other engagement platforms.

• Develop and manage the gRED editorial calendar, ensuring a steady flow of timely and relevant stories.

• Write, edit, and produce clear, compelling content that makes gRED's science and strategy accessible and engaging.

• Manage and optimize channels, including intranet, newsletters, leader updates, and digital signage, ensuring consistent quality and reach.

• Support the design and delivery of major gRED-wide events (e.g., town halls, all-hands meetings) with messaging, presentations, and multimedia elements.

• Partner with Roche and Genentech enterprise colleagues to ensure alignment of content and leverage global platforms effectively.

• Establish a gRED internal communications dashboard to track performance of content and channels through analytics and feedback, making data-driven improvements.

Who You Are

• BS/BA required

• 5-8 years of communications experience in a large, matrixed organization or agency (healthcare, biotech, or technology strongly preferred but not essential)

• Outstanding writing, editing, and storytelling skills; proven ability to translate complex scientific and technical content into clear, compelling messages

• Experience producing content for multiple channels, including newsletters, intranet, and live events

• Comfortable working with senior leaders and cross-functional teams, providing both counsel and hands-on execution

• Proven ability to juggle multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Biotech, pharma or scientific communications experience, ideally in a research or development setting

• Experience managing internal communications platforms and tools

• Skills in multimedia content creation (e.g., video, graphics, slide design) a big plus

• Experience supporting live events, such as town halls or leadership meetings, preferred
