Job Description

Hours: 20 hours per week providing table massage in 2 busy clinics in the Milwaukee area. Schedule: Monday and Thursday 1:30pm-6:30pm at a clinic in Greenfield; Tuesdays and Wednesdays 12:15pm-5:15pm at a clinic in Wauwatosa. Some flexibility with start/end times, but days are fixed. Additional hours may be needed to cover open shifts at various locations. Locations may include inpatient, outpatient table massage, chair massage, and cancer clinics throughout the Milwaukee area and surrounding counties. Home department is located at Aurora Sinai Medical Center, but position is not based there. Major Responsibilities: Performs assessment of client status and formulates a massage treatment plan in accordance with the client's goals and massage practice standards; ensures assessments reflect synthesis of gathered data into an appropriate plan of care. Recognizes client's inability to attain goals and consults with appropriate personnel. Identifies contraindications to massage and takes recommended precautions. Completes all required documentation within the same business day of the client's visit. Performs massage therapy to assigned patients utilizing appropriate methods according to licensure guidelines and professional practice. Incorporates appropriate type of relaxation massage into sessions to meet the needs of patient's history and goals. Tailors education to meet the age-specific and individualized needs of the client. Takes an active role in program development and contributes ideas for promotional materials and community education. Prepares treatment area before patient arrival; prepares equipment, sets environmental lighting and music to create relaxing atmosphere. Provides an environment consistent with accepted standards of sanitation, hygiene, safety, and Universal Precautions. Responsible for cleanup after treatment, including sanitizing equipment and maintaining neat, orderly workstations. Acknowledges confidential nature of the professional relationship with a client and respects each client's right to privacy. Upon delegation, assists with general cleaning, ordering and dispensing of clean linen, and miscellaneous clerical duties when assigned to an outside clinic. Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Licensure Required: Massage Therapist license issued by the state of Wisconsin, and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) to be obtained within 6 months unless not required by department leader. Education Required: Advanced training beyond High School including completion of an accredited or approved program in Massage Therapy. Experience Required: No experience required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Intermediate computer skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, excellent organization, decision-making, and problem solving skills. Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand approximately 75% of the workday, sit, walk, squat, bend, twist, kneel, reach above shoulders daily, lift up to 10 lbs frequently and 35 lbs occasionally. Position requires repetitive use of hands and feet, functional speech, vision, touch, and hearing. May be exposed to electrical hazards and blood/body fluids requiring protective clothing.
