SOUTH TEXAS RENAL CARE GROUPMedical Assistant - FloatAbout the Job:The Medical Assistant - Float provides both clinical and administrative support to health care providers across multiple clinic locations. This position is essential in ensuring smooth daily operations and exceptional patient care, especially in a float capacity where adaptability and professionalism are key. This role primarily supports the following clinic locations:-215 N. San Saba St., Ste. 301, San Antonio, Texas 78207 - 8115 Datapoint Dr., Ste. 200, San Antonio, Texas 78229 (Home Base)- 12011 State Hwy 151, Ste. 202, San Antonio, Texas 78251 Additional float coverage to other San Antonio-based clinic sites may be required based on operational needs.Job Duties Include (but are not limited to):Welcomes patients by greeting them in person or by phone; answers or refers inquiries.Prepares patients for healthcare visits by directing and/or escorting them to exam rooms.Verifies patient information by interviewing the patient, reviewing and recording medical history, taking vital signs, and confirming the purpose of visit.Supports patient care delivery by assisting providers during examinations; authorizes drug refills and telephones prescriptions to pharmacies as cates patients on medications, diets, and other physician instructions; answers questions and reinforces provider guidance.Records and updates patient information including exams, treatments, and test pletes billing documentation and insurance forms; responds to third-party payor inquiries.Manages clinical supplies through inventory tracking, ordering, and confirming deliveries.Ensures functionality of medical equipment by performing routine maintenance and arranging repairs when necessary.Maintains a safe and HIPAA-compliant environment for both patients and staff.Upholds clinical and administrative standards, including adherence to organizational policies and legal regulations.Participates in continuing education and training to stay current with best practices.Accepts and assists with new or evolving tasks to support the clinic and organization.Performs administrative tasks such as appointment scheduling, managing incoming phone calls, and relaying messages.Prepares charts prior to clinic, handles faxing of notes and referrals, and manages incoming/outgoing fax distribution.Documents medication history, surgical/family/social history, and allergy records following meaningful use guidelines.Specific Requirements:Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.Prior experience in a busy outpatient clinic or multi-provider practice setting.Ability to multitask in high-volume environments.Strong communication and customer service skills.Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality.Familiarity with EMR systems and basic clinical workflows.Valid Texas driver's license in good standing required.Must be a covered driver on personal auto insurance eage reimbursement available for travel between sites (daily driving log required).Schedule:Work hours vary by clinic; typical shifts are 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM or 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM. Some clinics may require arrival as early as 7:00 AM or staying until 7:00 PM - schedule flexibility is required. Bi-weekly payroll with direct deposit. Mileage reimbursed when floating between clinics (daily driving log required).
