The University of Miami/UHealth has an exciting opportunity for a full time Radiation Therapy Technologist at our SCCC Medical Campus. Core job functions include administering doses of radiation to specific body parts using radiation therapy equipment according to established practices and standards as prescribed by physicians; positioning patients for treatment with accuracy according to prescription; reviewing prescription, diagnosis, patient chart, and identification; maintaining records, reports, and files including radiation dosages, equipment settings and patient reactions; observing patients’ clinical progress and using clinical decision-making skills to recognize and report any signs of complications; following principles of radiation protection for patient, self, and others; operating a variety of computerized simulation and treatment machines safely and effectively; performing and documenting daily machine safety checks; constructing immobilization devices and employing custom blocking techniques; utilizing sophisticated imaging equipment and treatment planning systems for precise tumor localization; working closely with radiation oncologists and therapy team in preparation of customized treatment plans; performing simulations according to physician’s orders; adhering to University and unit-level policies and procedures. Core qualifications include an associate degree in relevant field, ARRT Accreditation, CPR Certification, no experience required, and skills such as attention to detail, ability to analyze and prioritize work under pressure, discretion with confidential information, ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends, commitment to University’s core values, and ability to work independently or collaboratively.
