About the Job: We have partnered with our client in their search for a Python Django AWS Developer for a 12+ month remote contract. This platform replaces legacy systems and delivers modern, scalable functionality for students, faculty, and administrators. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on developer with strong experience in Python, Django, databases, and AWS, capable of writing efficient, maintainable code and supporting other developers as needed. This role focuses on implementation and development, not design or management, and reports directly to the Director of Application Architecture/Product Development. Responsibilities Develop, enhance, and maintain applications using Python/Django REST Framework. Implement integrations and backend logic using AWS services such as Lambda, SQS/SNS, and RDS. Write and optimize MySQL queries, manage data models, and ensure database performance. Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging across multiple environments. Collaborate with team members to ensure consistent coding standards and software quality. Support CI/CD automation using Jenkins, Git, and related tools. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in development and production environments. Work closely with the Director of Application Architecture/Product Development to align with project goals and timelines. Skills Required Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; advanced degree desirable. 5+ years of professional software development experience. Strong proficiency in Python and Django/Django REST Framework. Solid experience with MySQL and relational database design. Hands‑on experience with AWS (Lambda, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, SQS/SNS). Familiarity with CI/CD, Git, and Agile/Scrum environments. Proven ability to work independently and deliver production‑quality code. Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
