Job Description

We’re creating a brand-new Senior Fire Protection Engineer role, and we're looking for someone who’s ready to lead with both technical depth and strategic insight. You’ll serve as the go-to expert on all things fire protection, guiding the design and oversight of systems that keep people and buildings safe. From code analysis and system design to team mentorship and client collaboration, this role offers full visibility across the project lifecycle — and the chance to shape how safety is built into every step.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop fire protection systems, including fire alarm, sprinkler, standpipe, and suppression systems in compliance with local and national codes (e.g., NFPA, IBC, IFC).
  • Conduct code analysis, life safety evaluations, and egress studies for various building occupancies.
  • Design systems that are code-compliant, contract-compliant, and cost-effective by thoroughly reviewing scopes of work, project specifications, drawings, and legal contracts to ensure alignment with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation using tools such as AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Coordinate fire protection system designs with other engineering disciplines, architects, and contractors.
  • Perform hydraulic calculations, hazard analysis, and system performance assessments.
  • Mentor and provide strategic guidance to junior and mid-level team members, fostering their technical growth and professional development. Facilitate knowledge sharing, training, and leadership opportunities across the team.
  • Help resolve workflow issues, and address project bottlenecks.
  • Conduct site visits and field investigations to validate design implementation and address on-site challenges as they arise.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships to encourage repeat business and referrals, ensuring long-term client satisfaction.
  • Exhibit leadership and management capabilities, ensuring successful team collaboration and project execution.
  • Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement within the team, promoting innovation and creative problem-solving. Lead initiatives to improve processes, enhance efficiency, and adopt new technologies.
  • Take personal ownership of the work produced.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • PE license in Fire Protection Engineering or related discipline (or ability to obtain the license).
  • 5 -7 years of relevant fire protection design and engineering experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of fire and life safety codes and standards (NFPA, IBC, IFC, etc.).
  • Extensive proven relevant technical, leadership, and field experience.
  • Experience working in a professional A/E office, Consulting Firm, Construction Contractor, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Revit, AutoCAD, and other design-related software.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-disciplinary teams, clients, and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple large projects simultaneously, including managing timelines, budgets, and resources, with a focus on achieving client satisfaction and high-quality outcomes.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, with occasional bending and the capacity to lift up to 10 lbs. as needed.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed for project meetings, site visits, or client engagements.
