At Mohawk Valley Health System, we are looking for a dedicated Trauma Performance Improvement & Patient Safety (PIPS) Coordinator RN to lead the charge in enhancing the quality of care for critically injured patients. About the Role

As the Trauma PIPS Coordinator, you will oversee and evaluate the care of critically injured patients, ensuring that treatment is safe, effective, and patient-centered. You will work closely with the Trauma Medical Director and the Trauma Program Manager to implement quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with trauma care standards.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage quality measurement and improvement initiatives that enhance critical patient care functions.
  • Ensure adherence to NYS regulations and the American College of Surgeons guidelines.
  • Address institution-specific improvement needs, including:
    • Creating and maintaining PIPS documents.
    • Organizing and facilitating weekly PIPS meetings.
    • Developing clinical care timelines for patient reviews.
    • Identifying trends and sentinel events, and implementing corrective action plans.
    • Conducting primary reviews of cases and leading trauma manual guideline revisions.
  • Collaborate with the Trauma Program Manager on state and national trauma center site visits.
  • Participate in injury prevention education and outreach activities.
  • Engage in trauma service rounds for PIPS activities and complication tracking.
  • Perform other duties as required.

What We’re Looking For

Education & Experience

Required:

  • BSN
  • Experience in Emergency Department or critical care.
  • At least 2 years of nursing experience in Emergency Department or critical care, including quality or process improvement.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong relationship-building skills with healthcare professionals.
  • Data tracking and analysis capabilities.
  • Ability to manage challenging situations and facilitate crucial conversations.
  • Proficiency in Excel and MS Office, with a willingness to learn new software.

Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing.

Licensure & Certification

Required:

  • Registered Nurse license in New York State.

Preferred:

  • TNCC/ATCN certification.
