Job Description

Genesis is seeking a Mechanical engineer for an on-site opportunity in Mobile, AL. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the design and integration of mechanical systems, including propulsion, HVAC, fluid handling, and auxiliary systems on marine vessels.

• Assist in creating technical drawings, 3D models, P&IDs, and BOMs using CAD software such as SolidWorks or Siemens NX.

• Perform basic calculations for fluid flow, thermal systems, and mechanical loads.

• Contribute to the development of installation and assembly procedures for shipboard equipment.

• Participate in testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of mechanical systems during fabrication and trials.

• Review vendor documentation and coordinate with suppliers for equipment specifications and performance data.

• Ensure compliance with applicable standards and codes (e.g., ASME, MIL-STD, ABS, USCG).

• Collaborate closely with electrical, structural, and production teams across the design-build lifecycle.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.

• 0–3 years of experience (internship or co-op experience in marine, manufacturing, or defense preferred).

• Familiar with SolidWorks, Siemens NX, or AutoCAD.

• Understanding of mechanical system fundamentals, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics.

• Strong organizational and technical writing skills.

• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and take initiative.

• U.S. citizenship required; ability to obtain a security clearance may be necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Exposure to shipboard mechanical systems (pumps, engines, valves, HVAC).

• Familiarity with P&ID development and equipment layout planning.

• Experience with engineering change processes and configuration management.
